No journalist have been prohibited to cover the meeting of Northern governors – Cps Musa

Last Saturday, the Governors of the Northern States Forum was held in Kaduna, where large -scale decisions were made on safety issues. In this interview, the secretary of the head of the Kaduna State Governor, Malam Ibraheem Musa, clarified that no journalist was prohibited by the meeting. Alabi Abdul reports his meeting with the Governor’s CPS.

Why did you prevent journalists from covering the last meeting of the Northern Governors forum who held on Saturday at the Government House Kaduna?

The meeting was well covered; From the opening ceremony at the end of the event, when the President of the Forum and the Governor of the State of Gombe, his excellence Alhaji Muhammad Inuwa Yahaya read the press release. So if I forbidden journalists from the event, as you said, why is the news on all the media?

It was reported that you prevented journalists from entering the meeting office …

I have already answered your question but you are still reforming it. For the record, 43 journalists based in Kaduna covered the event, including journalists from other states who accompanied their governors. Therefore, it is not correct to say that I forbidden journalists from the Northern Governors forum. All the national newspapers were there. All the radio and TV stations based in Kaduna were there. There were also all the correspondents of the main TV and radio stations outside of Kaduna. Don’t believe it, go to find out. The whole story is only a storm in a cup of tea.

So what really happened?

I also don’t know. What I know is that if you are a journalist based in Kaduna and you or your vehicle you are not among the 43 guest journalists or media organizations, then you must examine if you are worthy of being called a journalist. There is a clear distinction between journalists and bloggers. And among the journalists, there are those Flotsam and Jetsam who are called Press Center Press Corps, PCPC in short.

What is the genesis of what happened on Saturday that made some online platforms necessary that ask for your removal as the main press secretary?

To begin with, I am serving in the government of the state of Kaduna for the pleasure of the executive governor of the state of Kaduna, the senator UBA Sani. He can remove me without anyone asking him to do it. It can also remove me for no reason. Having said that, let me answer your question.

The meeting of the Northern Governors forum before the last participated, more than 100 so -called journalists! This was more than the number of guests and all the staff of the Kaduna government house put together. The worst part of it was that some of them did not behave correctly, they were dignitary stalking and made a show of themselves.

After the meeting, some of my colleagues secretaries print or media, have complained, apparently on behalf of their garments. So, this time, I took measures to control the number by filling in the names and multimedia organizations of all the correspondents and journalists at home through the printed and electronic media. The list reached 43. So, I sent the list to our Chief Security Officer who sent him to the gate. I therefore followed with personal invitations. So if your name was not in that list and you did not receive an invitation, you have not been automatically allowed you to enter the Government House.

Even with the list of 43, we have still had problems to let them enter the Chambers of the Council where the governors were meeting and the traditional sovereigns revered. There were a series of struggles at the entrance of the rooms. So, you can imagine if 100 or more journalists have been invited!

Have you been accused of not bringing everyone, why is it difficult to do it?

It is not just difficult to do it but impossible to bring everyone. I learned that there are about 400 journalists in Kaduna, how the hell can I bring them all? Please tell me, help me. The number of journalists, if the figure is correct, is close to the number of policemen in Kaduna! What I can do and I would do, is to bring all journalists from credible news organizations.

You cannot simply record an online platform, in which it only collects news from other stores and reproduce and you expect that you carry out. You can cover open assignments but not all tasks. And on a personal basis, we can relate to us and the need is presented, I can offer assistance. But I cannot be intimidated by someone who cannot even write a good story, a person who cannot articulate any idea, someone whose only source of journalist is an identity card that has produced himself.

Nuj has a lot of work to do to sanitize the profession. Some of the published stories were full of common grammatical errors that should be under a journalist. What is worrying is that some characters have spent almost 30 years in journalism. However, they have not polished their crafts. It is a shame, other professionals are reading the fees they publish like the so -called journalists.

At this juncture, I have to praise National President of Nuj, Alhassan Yahya, for reaching, to find out what was going on, the information of my so -called to exclude the press was immediately published. I explained to him what happened and asked him to call the correspondent of any national newspaper to find out if he was prevented from covering the event. I also shared the list of journalists invited with him. The gentleman has begged that we should try to systematically systematically systematically have.

How will you solve this problem?

There is nothing to be satisfied here. If they worked for credible news organizations, I would have presented a petition to their respective means. Or I would complain with the Nuj or the Council of the Nigerian press. But as I said before, these guys are marginal elements on the margins of journalism. However, I will contact my lawyers to sue for defamation in my private ability of Malam Ibraheem Musa. Freedom of expression is not a license to defame. Many well -intentioned people and senior colleagues contacted me that I should ignore what has been written about me because all those who have dealt with me can guarantee my integrity. I’m sorry to disappoint them. I would not have looked lazily to see my reputation earned hard dragged into the mud by people without professional ethics, decoration and training at home.
