Not like Fredrick: Super Eagles star plays down enthusiasm for new defender

Newly invited defender Emmanuel Fernandez of the Scottish team Rangers made a big impression on his Nigeria senior team teammates in his first big training session, reports OwnGoalNigeria.com.

The defender, who is having his great season in the Scottish team, did not show any nerves in his behavior among his new teammates.

Although it is unclear if he will play any roles in today’s match against Iran in the four-team invitational tournament, he will certainly make his tournament debut probably against Jordan on Tuesday.

We want to hear from a senior player on the team if they think the defender will make an instant impression on the team, like Brentford defender Benjamin Fredrick did when he made his Unity Cup debut in the summer.

“I don’t think he (Emmanuel Fernández) is the same with Fredrick even though he is a very good player. For Fredrick from the first day he trained we could all see his level. He went straight to the starting lineup and I don’t see that happening with this new boy,” he said.
