NRC suspended train service in the Abuja-Kaduna corridor

Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) has suspended train operations on the Abuja-Kaduna route without time limits.

It followed an almost fatal accident in the corridor on the previous Tuesday.

A number of unspecified passengers escaped the death of a mustache on Tuesday after the train in the morning serving the corridor slipped and reversed some of his coaches.

The incident caused panic among the passengers.

NRC Director, Kayode Opeifa, announced the suspension of train services when giving direction to journalists about the incident in Abuja.

He said several NRC technical staff, in addition to the Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB) and other related institutions, were currently in the field at the location to investigate the causes of the accident.

He added that six passengers suffered minor injuries and have been treated since then.

However, he was silent about the number of passengers carried by the train.
