NRC to resume the Abuja train service – Kaduna next week

The Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) has announced that the Abuja -kuna passenger train service will resume next week after completing the repairs and security checks on the section damaged paths in ASHAM.

The service was suspended after the accident of August 26, 2025, during which the operations for emergency restoration were interrupted.

According to a declaration signed by the Chief Public Relations Officer of NRC, Callistus Unyimadu, both infrastructures and rolling stocks have been restored to global safety standards.

As part of its passenger welfare measures, the company has declared that it had reimbursed 512 of the 583 passengers aboard the train concerned, while efforts are underway for the reimbursement of processing for the remaining passengers.

The NRC thanked the Federal Ministry of Transport, the safety agencies, the media and other parties interested for their support during the suspension period, ensuring passengers that safety and comfort remain its best priorities.

The details of the official recovery date and the train program should be issued in the next few days.
