In an energetic endorsement of the growing football movement of the Flag of Nigeria, the general director of the National Sports Commission (NSC), Hon. Bukola Olopade has expressed strong support for a potential synergy between the Nigerian American Football Association (NAFA) and Showtime, a leading sport promoter in the country.
Speaking during the official presentation of the Nigerian team competition t -shirts before the continental football games of the Flag of IFAF in Egypt, Olopade praised NAFA for his rapid development of sport and urged collaboration to build a national league structure.
“I must thank you for your team for the type of advertising and aggressive glamor that you are creating around the flag football in Nigeria,” said the DG. “I think there is a realistic possibility that a synergy is believed that will hit Nafa and Showtime together to have a robust league throughout the country. If this can eventually happen and you join, this sport will take Nigeria by assault, I have no doubts.”
The DG also praised NAFA’s initiative to include a women’s team and U13 in the continental event, saying that it is aligned with the vision of the Base Development Commission and long -term sports excellence.
“On this trip to Egypt, I wish you the best, and I am encouraged by your trust, especially in the women’s team. Taking a team U13 to this tournament is in line with our renewed vision of hope to start building for the future,” said Olopade.
The president and founder of NAFA, Babajide Akeredolu, emphasized the historical nature of the next tournament, noting that Nigeria will present three teams: the main national team, a women’s team and a U13 development team. He highlighted the preparation of the teams and the importance of building a talent pipe through the support of leagues such as Showtime, the Abuja Flag Soccer League and others throughout the country.
Nigeria will compete together with the main African nations such as Morocco, Tunisia, South Africa, Senegal, Ghana, Uganda and the hosts of Egypt in the two -day tournament scheduled for June 20 to 21, 2025.
