NSCDC arrests 5 vandalism suspects in Akwa Ibom

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has arrested five suspects for vandalizing electrical installations in Akwa Ibom State.

The NSCDC Commander in the state, Mr. Bashar Hussaini, disclosed this to journalists at the command headquarters in Uyo on Wednesday.

He said the suspects were arrested at Ikot Obio Ekpong village in Mkpat Enin local government area on September 22.

Hussaini said: “The suspects were caught red-handed with the help of local people while cutting high-tension cables at the border between Ikot Obio Ekpong Village and Ikot Ekong Village.

“The suspects also damaged electricity infrastructure in Atanuk Village, a neighboring village to the two affected villages.”

“One of the suspects arrested was Uchenna Uguru, the buyer of the stolen cable along with the suspects, Emmanuel Sampson, Victor Sampson, and Kingsley Umoren.”
