NSCDC CG Orders for the detention of the officers mentioned in the alleged extortion of N5.2M

Commander of the Nigerian Civil Defense and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC), Dr. Ahmed Audi, has ordered the direct detention of the officers mentioned in the alleged N5.2 million extortion of several travelers.

NSCDC public relations officer, Afolabi Babawale, revealed this in a statement on Wednesday in Abuja.

This followed the instructions by the Minister of the Interior, Olubunmi Supi-Ojo, for the investigation of the officers mentioned in this case.

Social media users have accused in a post that several NSCDC officers were raising N5.2 million from a group of young people who were traveling from Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti, to Akure, Ondo State.

Audi directed that the suspects had to be transported to the NSCDC headquarters in Abuja for further investigation.

The statement reads: “Their actions were very condemned and unprofessional because they violated the Standard Code of Ethics and Operating Procedures (SOP) from NSCDC.

“NSCDC management is waiting for the results of the investigation and promised to deal firmly with officers in accordance with Public Service Regulations (PSR) if proven guilty of alleged violations.”

CG convinces Nigerians that the corps will not protect anyone who can be blamed from corruption practices or all forms of compromise.

He added that the corps will make the wrong officers responsible for their actions by facing the right sanctions to function as a prevention for others.
