NWFL: Okocha tops fan vote after winning display in Uyo Derby

Mirian Okocha emerged as the featured artist following an intense round of fan voting, taking top honors after her decisive contribution in Uyo.

The Ibom Angels striker secured the number one spot with 1,039 votes, narrowly edging out Hannah Ibrahim who garnered 985 votes after an impressive double for Remo Stars Ladies.

Uduakobong Monday Peter finished third with 471 votes, following her own winning performance.

Also receiving recognition were Glory Edet with 377 votes and Confluence Queens’ Marvelous Ebube, who garnered 277 votes, rounding out a competitive list made up of strong individual displays across the league.

Okocha’s winning performance came in a closely contested South-South derby, where he scored the decisive goal in the 7th minute to give Ibom Angels a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Rivers Angels.

His early goal finally made the difference in a very close match, securing three vital points for his team on matchday 13.

Beyond the goal, Okocha’s composure in front of goal and his ability to rise to the occasion in a high-pressure match underlined his importance to the team.

The result not only boosted Ibom Angels’ campaign but also sent a strong message to their rivals as the season progresses.

While Okocha stole the show, the performances of Ibrahim and Uduakobong Monday Peter further highlighted the growing depth of talent in women’s football. Ibrahim’s clinical finishing and Peter’s contribution to the victory ensured that fans were treated to a number of highlights throughout the day.
