Nwoye unveils campaign team, confident of replacing Enekwu as APC vice president

A former Chairman of the AL Progressives Congress (APC) in Enugu State, Dr. Ben Nwoye, has expressed confidence that he will emerge victorious in the next National Convention of the ruling party as the new National Vice President, replacing the incumbent, Hon. Emma Enekwu.

Dr Nwoye said he had secured the support of Governor Peter Mbah of Enugu State and other stakeholders in the South East and across the country.

Speaking to journalists shortly after the unveiling of his campaign team, on Wednesday in Abuja, Nwosu, who has been the Secretary of the APC State Presidents Forum for many years, said from day one as National Vice President of the APC, his task will be to rally the entire South for the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and also ensure the victory of Governor Peter Mba in Enugu and others in the Southern Region.

He said: “By the grace of God I will emerge as the National Vice President of the APC, South in the next National Convention. It is not about the office, it is about getting our President re-elected. As for me, if I emerge, I will rally the entire South behind the President, and take the party back to the grassroots because the door of my office will be open to all.”

When asked if he has the support of stakeholders in Enugu State, Nwoye said: “Of course, I will not be here if I do not have the support of our party leaders. Before now I have served His Excellency, Governor Peter Mbah, the intelligent and best performing governor in the entire country.

“My goal from day one is to secure the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinigu in 2027 and the re-election of my governor, His Excellency, Governor Peter Mbah, that is my ambition and to bring that ambition home, that is why I am on the national stage and I am telling you that we can do better and we can make it happen,” he said.

Earlier, the Director General of Dr. Ben Nwoye Campaign Organization, Hon. Timothy Amah, said Nwoye’s vision is to serve as a bridge that unites the South – from South-East to South-South, South-West and beyond – behind President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

According to Amah, Nwoye is committed to mobilizing Southern Nigeria like never before, strengthening party structures at all levels, ensuring inclusiveness, equity and justice, and delivering unbeatable electoral victories for APC in future contests, starting with the consolidation of President Tinubu’s second term and cascading down to every state and local government.

“To the leaders, delegates and members of our party nationwide: Dr. Ben Nwoye does not come to take, he comes to serve. He brings experience, visibility and a track record of stability and reconciliation. He understands the heartbeat of the South and the aspirations of our people. He is committed to working closely with the National President, the National Working Committee and every progressive leader to make the APC stronger, more united and more unbeatable.

“To the good people of Southern Nigeria, this is your moment. This is our moment to rise up, mobilize and claim our rightful place at the table of national decision-making. Together, we will mobilize the South for President Tinubu, for progressive ideals and for a Nigeria where no region is left behind.
