Former Rivers United captain and striker Nyima Nwagua is set to join Saudi Arabian second division side Al Sadd Club.
The 31-year-old striker, who had a solid season with Rivers United, contributed to the team’s eighth-place finish.
He scored nine goals and provided four assists in 34 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) matches last season.
Nwagua played a crucial role in Rivers United’s triumph in the 2021/2022 NPFL, helping the team secure the league title with four games to spare.
Al Sadd Club officially announced the arrival of Nwagua via their social media, confirming that the former Lobi Stars striker will join them for the upcoming season.
Upon arrival at King Khalid International Airport, Nyima Nwagua was greeted by Mohannad Aldousery, Al Sadd’s first team supervisor, who will help him settle in and finalise the details of his deal.
With Nwagua gone, Rivers United could turn to the transfer market to bring in a new striker ahead of the upcoming NPFL season.
