Oba Owoade crowned 46th Alaafin by Oyo

Oba Abimbola Owoade was crowned the 46th Oyo Alaafin.

Owoade happens at the 45th Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi, who died on April 22, 2022, at the age of 83.

The coronation event took place today (Saturday) at Oliveth Baptist High School in Oyo, where the governor Seyi Makinde led a series of dignitaries, including notable Nigerians.

The dignitaries present at the coronation included Ibadan’s Olubadan, Oba Owolabi Olakulehin; IFE’s Ooni, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi; The ogbomoso sound, Oba Ghandi Olaoye; Iwo Oluwo, Oba Abdulrasheed Akanbi; and Oona Kankank of Yoruba, Iba Gani Adams, among others

Before the event, the government of the State of Oyo had implemented an intense security measures, including the deployment of safety agents in strategic offices within the ancient cities and surrounding communities.

Oba Owoade, who was presented with the office staff and office tool on Monday 13 January 2025, at the office of the Governor of Ibadan, the state capital, rises to the throne after the death of the deceased Oba Lamidi Adeymi.

The new monarch completed the 21 -day traditional rites of 21 days known as Gold Ipebi last Saturday 29 March.

The security agreements were significantly improved before the ceremony.
