Peter Obi, Labour Party, LP, a presidential candidate in the 2023 general elections, has urged Nigerian political leaders to learn from the recent upheaval in Kenya.
Obi made the call on Sunday via his official account X.
He was reacting to recent protests against proposed tax increases by Kenyan citizens, especially the youth.
He lamented that Nigerian political leaders were using public funds to pay media thugs to insult and harass those who spoke truth to power.
He challenged Nigerian leaders to shun such habits and start making sacrifices for the common good of the suffering masses.
“We, Nigerian political leaders, must learn a valuable lesson from Kenya’s recent experience. When Kenyans realized that their government was not making enough sacrifices and prioritizing resources effectively, they spoke up, demanded change,

“We use public funds to pay media thugs to insult and harass those who speak truth to power.
“True change and progress will require leaders who are sincere, willing to listen, act responsibly and put the welfare of the people before personal or political interests. If we make the necessary changes and make the necessary sacrifices, a new Nigeria can be realized,” he said.
