Obi welcomed the visit planned for Tinubu to Benue, demanding a similar movement for Niger

The presidential candidate of the Labor Party in the 2023 election, Peter Obi, has welcomed the Decree of the Tinubu Ball President to visit the state of the benue after the new massacre of more than 200 people in the state.

He described the step as a step needed towards entertaining the grieving residents.

President Tinubu has announced his plan to visit the benue during the greater Commissioning of Abuja water supply networks on Monday.

Special advisors about information and strategies to the President, Bayo Onanuga, confirmed that the principal had resigned an official journey to Kaduna to personally assess tragic events in the state of the benue.

Reacting to development, Obi, who has become a vocal critic of Tinubu’s leadership style, described the news as a positive development and was welcomed for the Nigerians in a statement on Tuesday.

He said: “That is a refreshing news on Monday to a confused country knowing that the ball President Ahmed Tinubu finally decided to visit the brutal murder place in the state of Benue.

“For this, I thank him even when I ask for more requests that the same movement must be expanded to Niger State who lost more human lives in natural disasters, recently.”

The Head of the Labor Party emphasized that the President’s visit to the people who was hit by the tragedy brought symbolic weight and emotional certainty.

He added: “The presence of the president in this destroyed and grieving community will be very convincing and encouraging.”

Obi showed that both the states of Benue and Niger had suffered huge human losses in recent weeks.

He quoted Mokwa in the state of Niger, where more than 200 people were reportedly killed in a flood of disasters, with more than 1,000 still missing.

“This is not just a statistics; they are a separate Nigerian family life and their community is destroyed,” said the former Governor of the State Anambra.

Obi urged Tinubu to use a visit to the two countries that were damaged by loss of life to send a message that every Nigerian life was important, regardless of location.

“Let his visit to Mokwa in the state of Niger send a strong message that all Nigerian life is important and that there is no community, no matter how rural, forgotten,” he said.

He appealed to the president to strengthen the country’s security architecture, especially in areas that were vulnerable to violence and natural disasters, to prevent further loss of lives.
