The founder of Human Capital Africa, dr. Object Ezekwesili, underlined the need for a new constitution that will help to face all the imbalances and inequalities that besiege Nigeria.

Ezekwesili made the call on Thursday while he spoke on the topic “rework the federalism of Nigeria: prospects on renovation and fiscal federalism” on the seventh anniversary of the media penpushing and at the annual conference held in Abekuta.
He stressed that a new constitution was a matter of life and death, underlining that having in progress define the current Constitution in Nigeria and that there must be a constitutional conference that will allow citizens to have an honest conversation
“The media should take the front seat and be at the forefront of a new constitution request. We must have a constitutional conference that allows the people of this country to have an honest conversation on things that will make us progress and make Nigeria work for all of us’, he said.

The former minister stressed that only a new Constitution that gives priority to the devolution of powers, justice, equity and equity to all regardless of the tribes and ethnicity will solve the agitation for the secession by the country, the problem of housing, the challenge of unemployment and poverty and mistreatment.

The development expert of human capital said that there is a strong connection between the quality of African politics and its economic performance and prosperity, adding that this sad reality could, however, not change for a long time to come if nothing is done to improve the quality of its policy and political leaders.
The real practice of fiscal federalism will promote greater autonomy and regional collaboration, will satisfy the demand for self -determination without breaking the country, increasing productivity and responsibility and improving leadership skills, among other things.
