The ‘big players’ in oil theft live outside the Niger Delta — Sen Dickson
Former Bayelsa State governor, Senator Seriake Dickson (PDP-Bayelsa West) on Friday described those responsible for oil theft in the Niger Delta as “big players” residing outside the region. The senator leveled the accusation at Oporoza, the headquarters of Gbaramatu Kingdom, Warri South-West Local Government Area of the Delta.
Dickson said that although Ijaw youth have been labeled as responsible for oil theft, they lack the capacity and technical expertise to understand how pipelines work. “Those big players behind the theft of crude oil are not from the region, but are based in Lagos, Abuja and other parts of the world,” she said.
