Oil theft: the Navy destroys three illegal refining sites in the Delta


The excravos of the operational base forward (FOB) of the Nigerian Navy claims to have deactivated three illegal refining sites in the delta.

The captain of the navy Ikenna Okoloagu, the FOB Escravos commander, revealed it on Thursday to journalists in Warri, Delta.

Okoloagu said that illegal refining sites were deactivated on Monday by the staff of the base following credible information.

He said that the sites were located in the coastal community of Oteghele in Obodo Omodino in the local government of the south-west of Warri.

The navy captain stated that illegal refining sites were presumably loaded with about 2,700 liters of stolen crude oil and 2,200 liters of oil for illegally refined automotive petrol (FA).

Okoloagu added that the products were contained in two ovens, 10 dug wells, two drums and 26 bags of polytenne.

β€œIn the search to support the struggle against the theft of crude oil, the vandalism of the gas pipeline and other acts of economic sabotage, the FOB Escravos staff has deactivated three illegal refining sites.

β€œThe illegal sites were deactivated on Monday in Oteghele in the community of Obodo Omadino following credible information.

“The operation is in line with the efforts to increase the daily production of the crude oil of Nigeria,” he said.

Okoloagu also said that the successful operation was in support of the operation in Corso Delta Sanity II, which according to him is based on “credible intelligence”.

He said that the operation further highlighted the commitment of the base to achieve the dictates of the strategic directives of the head of the naval staff (CNS), vice ADM Emmanuel Ogalla.

According to Okoloagu, the strategic directives of the central nervous system are focused on the rooting of all forms of illegality within the maritime environment.

However, he warned the criminals to desist from sabotage the economic activities of the nation, adding that anyone captured would have been treated accordingly. (Nan)
