Okonkwo wins 2025 MVP of Afrobasket for women

The D’Atigress forward Amy Okonkwo was appointed more valuable player, MVP, of the 2025 FIBA Women’s Afrobasket, reports Completsports.com.

Okonkwo played a fundamental role in the fifth consecutive victory of Nigeria’s title in the competition.

D’Tigress defeated Mali 78-64 in the final at the Palais des Sports in Treichville, Abidjan, Cote d’IVorire on Sunday night.

The 28 -year -old registered 19 points, nine rebounds and three assists against the Malians.

It would be remembered that he also won the most valuable player award in the previous edition of the competition organized by Rwanda.

The striker made history as the second Nigerian to gain consecutive MVP honors in the Women’s Afrobasket, after Mfon Uudoka, who claimed individual praise in 2003 and 2005.

Okonkwo averaged 14 points per game (seventh in general) in ivory coast.

He also directed the competition in three -point shooting percentage (50%), and occupied the second place in percentage of free throws (87.5%).
