The other affected unions are the Association of Jalan Nigeria (RTEAN) and Annewat Road Transportation Entrepreneurs, the Umbrella Body of Three -Wheeled Bicycle Operators and Motorcycles in the State.

The Secretary of the State Government, Musa Ikhilor, who revealed this in a statement on Wednesday in Benin City, said that the governor banned trade unions from collecting all forms of contributions, levies, taxes, or costs of motorists, drivers, traders, or members of the community in the state.

Okpebholo also prohibits Atalakpa Recovery Concept Limited, a private company owned by the Chief of the Congress all Progressive (APC) in the state, Tony Kabaka.

The statement reads: “The Governor prohibits trade unions and consultants after receiving a report on the revival of illegal income by certain trade unions and organizations with various pseudoes in all states.

“Credible reports that reach the governor who love the people show that the company and its workers have been involved in widespread extortion and misuse of the mandate, thus betraying the trust displayed in it by the state.

“The government considers these actions as an act of economic sabotage, social oppression, and direct insults to the law and order. The era uses trade unions as a front to harass, intimidate, or blackmail drivers and road users in the name of revenue collection has ended.

“All union activities mentioned above are suspended without time limit.
“There are no individuals or groups under one of these trade unions that are permitted to collect all forms of payment from motorists or road users.

“All motorists, drivers, and road users are strongly advised not to pay cash or comply with all forms of illegal levies worn by this prohibited entity.”
