Okpebholo raised the minimum wage of Edo workers to the N75K

The Governor of the State Edo, Monday OKPEBHOLO, has raised the minimum wage for EDO workers from the N70,000 to the N75,000 to further enhance their standards of living.

The governor announced this during his speech in May at Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin on Thursday.

Okpebholo, who thanked Edo workers for their contribution to state development, said his government would always look for ways to improve the welfare of workers in the state.

He said: “Today, I am proud to announce that our administration has approved the new minimum wage of N75,000 per month for all Edo workers.

“This is the way we say thank you, Edo workers. We believe this makes a real difference, and we rely on your dedication to a better Edo.

“Since serving, my government has prioritized the welfare of workers.

“One initial action is changing more than 1,000 ordinary workers, including cleansers, becoming permanent civil servants.”

He said his government had also employed 500 teachers, added that he was reviewing more than 3,000 casual teachers for full jobs.

“We also approve the recruitment of 450 clinical and non-clinical hospital staff and regulate 126 contract workers at the Edo State Specialist Hospital for stability and growth,” said the Governor.

Okpebholo revealed that his government had cleaned the extraordinary salary arrears owed to the staff of the Polytechnic in the state.

“In the judiciary, the judge whose appointment was postponed had been sworn in correctly and is now actively carrying out their constitutional duties without further administrative obstacles.

“To prove our commitment, we approve health insurance for retirees because we believe that support must continue after workers leave active services,” he concluded.
