Okpebholo rejected IPOB’s claim with the approval of the N6BN for the terrorist group in Edo

The Governor of the State Edo, Monday, Okpebholo, has denied a report that he approved the N6 billion payment as compensation to terrorist groups in the state.

The Governor made clarification in a statement issued by the Head of the Press Secretary, Fred Diaa, on Thursday in Benin.

He reacted to publications by the native Biafra (IPOB), accused that he allocated N6 billion to “compensate terrorists in the state.

The group also accused Okpebholo of betraying people in that state.

However, the Governor described the accusation as a fictitious, evil, and misleading claim that aims to discredit his government and generate public riots.

The statement reads: “Ipob’s latest effort to incite ethnic riots is criminal and has been directly rejected by Edo people.

“Edo residents are famous for peace, unity, and hospitality. The state rejects the dangerous rhetoric of IPOB and efforts to confuse our harmonious coexistence.

“The efforts of those who fail to instill terror in Edo are a clear example of propaganda without a place in our society who loves peace.

“A group that upholds illegal seat orders and committing murder cannot pretend to speak for justice or human rights in any form.

“Security bodies are urged to investigate and demand the people behind this publication to protect EDO from ethnic conflicts and wrong information.”
