The Governor of the State Edo, Monday, Okpebholo, warned on Friday that the kidnappers who were trapped in the state would face the death penalty.
The governor, according to a statement issued by the head of his press secretary, Fred Diaa, gave the warning the interactive session held at Uromi City Hall with leaders and members of the Arwa community in the land of Esan.
Okpebholo swore that he would sign the death of anyone who was punished for kidnapping in the state.
He said his government would not tolerate the murder and kidnapping again in the state.
The Governor said the State Council Council had approved the law that changed the Amendment of the Amendment to the Loss of kidnapping (and the related issues 2013).
The bill, according to him, sets the death penalty for the kidnapper and mandates the confiscation and dismantling of property used for crime.
Okpebholo said: “I seriously consider the problem of insecurity and will not bend the rules but apply it firmly. New laws in the state allow us to destroy their property and confiscate their land. We will build the main judge team office on the land.
“We will bring the kidnappers to the public and carry out them to show our seriousness, according to the law that has been ratified by Edha. I will not be afraid to sign it.
“The type of security that we want to have in the state is where the remnants of women’s security are paid salaries, unlike before, where people will only wear uniforms without being paid. We will employ the vigilante team and pay their salaries, and stop people from only wearing their uniforms.
“These people will work with security agents, and they will be trained about how to fight crime and handle criminals. I will not wait until the campaign time to solve your problems. I will begin to overcome the problems faced by our people in the market, and everywhere.
“It’s time to start the profile of people from other states who claim to come from the north and make sure they do not damage your name. We will fence the market, put street lights, and build slaughtering animals for those who kill cows. We want to secure people in the state of Edo.”
