The National Association of Nigerian Students, Nans, has elected a new series of leaders to manage the affairs of the Student Association at national level, with Oladoja Horses that emerges the national president of the association.
His election and others took place at the National Corps Convention, which ended in the early hours of Thursday 27 February 2025 in Abuja.
A statement by Suleiman Seriku, the president of the Convention Committee, also said that Anzaku Shedrack was elected general secretary.
The declaration stated: βThe National Association of Nigerian Students (Nans) successfully elected a new set of leader to its convention held on February 26, 2022, at the old land of the parade, Abuja.
βThe elections, widely described as free, right and peaceful, have marked a historical moment in the Annals of the Nan, establishing a new precedent for the democratic transition within the student body.
βEmerging how the new national president is his partner Oladoja Olusola, who should guide the association with a vision of units, well -being of students and national progress.
βAnzaku Shedrack was elected secretary general, while Usman Adamu won the position of President of the Senate.
βOther key positions covered included Adeyemi Samson as an officer of the public relations (pro) and Adejuwon Olatunji as assistant secretary general, among others.
“Unlike the past elections, which have often been ruined by tension and disputes, this year’s convention was peaceful, well organized and widely accepted as one of the most transparent elections in the history of Nans.
“Delegates and representatives of students from various institutions throughout the country have actively participated, guaranteeing a credible and democratic process”.
Speaking after the announcement of the results, his partner expressed gratitude to Nigerian students for their trust in him and has committed himself to priority to the well -being of students, educational development and defense to improve the policies that affect students at national level.
βThis victory is not only for me but for every Nigerian student. We will work together to ensure that Nans remains a loud voice for students from all over the country, “he said.
In the same way, other elected officials have reiterated their commitment to diligently serve and support students’ interests, underlining the need for units, academic excellence and commitment with the interested parties to guide a positive change.
βMy administration will focus on the repositioning of the NAN to be truly centered on the student, proactive and impact. We will affirm the unit among the Nigerian students, we will involve the interested parties for a significant dialogue and ensure that our defense translates into tangible results.
“Our main priorities will include education, the well -being of students and the protection of students’ rights. We will push the policies that improve the learning standard and improve the quality of education between the institutions.
βIn addition, we will focus on the guarantee of job opportunities for graduates by collaborating with the government and the private sector to create practicable work internships. We will also work for the reform and strengthening of Nelphund to ensure that students have better access to education financing and post-graduate support.
“Next to other key initiatives, we are committed to making Nans a real force for a positive change in the life of Nigerian students.”
The peaceful conduct of the elections has been praised as a milestone in the history of Nans, establishing a new standard for democratic transitions within the student body.
