Once again Alluvione immerses the communities of Adamawa

On Tuesday the strong rains triggered serious floods in different parts of the state of Adamawa, leaving many submerged communities.

The downpour, which lasted for over five hours, flooded houses in Yola North and Yola South, with the residents of the police barracks, Karewa, Jambutu, Rume Baru and Bachure among the worst affected.

A resident, Ojoma Yusuf, said he was shocked by the fact that although he lived in an area of the Highland of Yola, the alluvial waters have still entered his house. “The water filled my rooms and destroyed some of my documents,” he complained.

The head of the Public Relations of the Police in Adamawa, SP Sleiman Yahaya Nguroje, revealed that the police commissioner, Cp Dankomo Morris, had deployed the Marina police to carry out rescue and emergency operations.

Nguroje added that the commissioner personally visited the affected areas including Limiwa, Rume, Shinko and Jambutu to evaluate the damage and coordinate the rescue efforts.

Morris urged the residents to remain calm, safeguard their families and objects and contact the control hotels of the command – 08089671313 and 08036165701 – for urgent support.
