The National Statistics Bureau (NBS) has revealed that the inflation rate of Nigeria headlines has dropped to 22.22 percent in June 2025.
The bureau says: “In years-to-year, the headline inflation rate was 11.97% lower than the level recorded in June 2024 (34.19%).
“Every month to month, the headline inflation rate in June 2025 is 1.68%, which is 0.15%higher than the level recorded in May 2025 (1.53%).
“This means that in June 2025, the rate increase in the average price level was higher than the increase in the average price level in May 2025.”
NBS said the food inflation rate in June was 21.97 percent every year.

“This is 18.93% of points lower than the tariff recorded in June 2024 (40.87%).
“A significant decrease in the annual food inflation rate is technically caused by changes in the basic year,” he added.
However, every month, the agency said the food inflation rate in June was 3.25 percent-Naik 1.07 percent compared to May (2.19 percent).
“This increase can be associated with an increase in the average price of green (dry) peas, pepper (fresh), shrimp (white dry), coral shrimp, meat (fresh), tomatoes (fresh), king’s banana flour, soil pepper, etc.,” NBS stated.
“The average annual food inflation rate for twelve months ended in June 2025 for the previous twelve months was 28.28%, which was 7.02% lower points than the average annual change rate recorded in June.”
