Ondo PDP accused the AIYDATIA government of security failure, demanding action

The Democratic People’s Party (PDP) in Ondo State has asked Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa to fulfill his responsibility to protect the life and property of the state of the state, accusing him failed in his constitutional duties in the midst of increasing insecurity.

Bpk. Leye Igbabo, Director of State and State Publicity, issued a statement on Tuesday in Akure, expressed worry about the continuous murder of innocent citizens by armed people.

He highlighted that the victims were individuals involved in their legal activities, trying to provide for their families.

“The party cannot, in all honesty, finding reasons why such attackers can operate without a form of resistance for months, in the state where there is a valid government,” said Igbabo.

Accusing the governor ignoring his fundamental duties, Igbabo stressed, “Governor Aiyedatiwa indeed failed in his constitutional duties as immortalized in section 14 (2) (b) from the 1999 constitution (as changed), in terms that cannot be reduced by people who cannot be reduced and protected by the only citizen.

He further expressed concern over the lack of arrest and prosecution following this incident, questioning the effectiveness of the state government.

“This murder is one that is too much and shows the powerlessness, despair and great compromise of those in the corridor of power in the state of Ondo,” said Igbabo.

PDP urged the Tinubu Bola President to intervene in the situation, showing that the state government seemed unable to overcome security challenges.

“The party wondered whether the government still existed in the state in dealing with what he described as an unprotected and uncontrolled murder” and that the president must immediately overcome the situation, “because it appears that the state government is unable to deal with threats.”
