The tragedy struck in the Idi-Araba Mushin area, the state of Lagos, on Sunday afternoon when a one-story building that was being built suddenly collapsed, leaving a number of unknown people trapped under the debris.
Lagos State Fire and Rescue Services quickly responded to the scene when emergency personnel began a rescue operation to find and extract which was still buried under the debris.
Confirming the incident, a spokesman for the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Services, Shakiru Amodu, stated that one person had been pulled out alive from a collapsed structure.

“An adult man has been saved while efforts are ongoing to save other victims trapped under the debris,” Amodu said.
He further explained that the structure was still under development at the time of collapse and only reached one floor level.
The rescue operation was still ongoing during the press, with emergency respondents competing from the time to save as many lives as possible from the ruins.
