One was killed, many were injured in the Dicon factory explosion

One person was killed in an explosion in the Nigerian Factory Disposal Industry (Dicon) industry in Kaduna’s state on Saturday.

Dicon public relations officer, Maria Sambo, confirmed the incident in a statement in Kaduna.

He said several other people were injured in the incident.

Sambo said: “Some old storage bunkers used to store raw materials for production containing some expiry materials for production that have exceeded their live range, including a large number of ammonia nitrates, primary hats, propellars, and others.”

He added that Dicon, in July, initiated efforts to ensure the disposal controlled from expired goods and succeeded in destroying all ammonia nitrates and most other items.

“However, unfavorable accidents occur while specialists conclude the destruction of the remaining amount of goods that have expired in the drain hole on September 20.

“The injured dicon staff are currently receiving treatment at 44 Nigerian Army Reference Hospitals, Kaduna, while the bodies of the dead personnel have been stored in the morgue.

“While sympathizing with staff, family, and friends of the deceased and hoping for those injured quickly recovering, Dicon convinced the general public that the unfavorable incident was under control and no need to panic.

“The neighboring community believes that Dicon, as a responsible professional organization, has institutionalized operational safety to the highest level, and they can run their normal business.

“The remaining material has been made safely,” The spokesperson stated.

He said the investigation council had been formed to reveal the direct cause of an unfavorable incident.
