‘Only blind people who cannot see the progress made by Nigeria under Tinubu’ – The President shot back to Atiku

The president has quickly replied to the statement of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar about the record of two years President Tinubu Bola, insisting that only those who “chose to be blind” who could not see the progress that Nigeria had made.

Atiku has marked the second anniversary of the government by accusing the government to increase poverty and wasteful public expenditure.

“Policy after policy under the government has targeted the poor while providing assistance and benefits for the rich,” Atiku said.

“From health care to education to management of identity and basic public services, Nigeria is now faced with a class -based system where the rich people enjoy VIP care, and the rest are lagging behind.”

Responding to the name of the president, Bayo Onanuga rejected Atiku’s statement as politically motivated and claimed that the record of the Tinubu government spoke himself.

“We have made progress. Inflation subsided, food production increased, re -investing, and the foundation for Nigeria who were more prosperous, just, and inclusive were being placed.

He continued, “During the campaign, Tinubu never promised that reforms would not be painful. But he was clearly needed to save the country from the fiscal threshold to reverse the non-sustainable years from non-sustainable expenses and placed a strong foundation for long-term inclusive growth.

“The elimination of fuel subsidies and the unification of foreign exchange systems are successive administrative steps, including Obasanjo-Aatiku Abubakar, recognized as necessary but failed to be implemented.

“Atiku promised reforms in his manifest. Indeed, the three main candidates in the election agreed that they had to be carried out, except that the responsibility to implement falling reforms to the President of the Tinubu Bola as the winner of the 2023 election.

“Unlike Atiku and some critics, everyone agrees that reforms have stabilized government finances, curb systemic corruption, and allow direct investment into social programs and infrastructure.”

Rejecting Atiku’s claim that government policy is “anti-person,” Onanuga said the government was fully aware of its impact on vulnerable and had worked to provide assistance.

“The Tinubu administration, fully recognizes that its policies affect vulnerable, have increased investment in social safety nets, introducing targeted interventions for low -income households, and more than double the minimum wages, from N30K to N70K.

“Some countries even pay up to N85K to their workers, an achievement made possible by an increase in federal allocation.”

Onanuga also questioned Atiku’s criticism of the education sector, describing his comments as baseless and misleading.

He said, “Since last year, the government has introduced a student loan scheme to ensure that underprivileged children are not rejected by education due to poverty. At the last count, more than 600,000 Nigerian students have benefited from loans.

“The loan includes student school fees and life allowances. Loans do not cover Nigerians in expensive schools such as American America University in Yola. What cannot be denied is that under the Tinubu ball, higher education is now more easily accessible to decent young people.”

In the pain caused by reform, Onanuga admitted that they had challenged but insisted that the government had been proactive in reducing difficulties.

“This government has honestly recognized that reforms came with the challenges present and had worked hard to reduce pain,” he said.

Onanuga concluded by handling Atiku directly, showing that he must offer practical alternatives instead of constant criticism.

“Criticism must be elevated and constructive. When Atiku opposes government policy, he must also offer solutions.

“If not, the statement of opposition will be dismissed only as a partisan rhetoric and cheap talks. Nigeria deserves opposition leaders who offer solutions, not just criticism.”
