The National University Commission (NUC) has officially published a license at the University of Aeronautica and the Management of Isaac Balami, the first University of Nigeria dedicated to aeronautical studies.
Development marks the end of a four -year wait and inaugurates a new era for aeronautical education in the country.
The approval, recently granted by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu during a meeting of the Federal Executive Council, aroused celebrations at national level, in particular among the young Nigerians who benefited from the philanthropic efforts of the founder of the University, his partner Isaac Balami.
During the presentation of the license in Abuja on Wednesday 30 April, the executive secretary of the Nuc, Professor Abdullahi Yusufu Ribadu, praised the commitment of the university promoters, describing the moment as “a new chapter in a collective effort for better education in Nigeria”.
He urged the new institutions to give priorities to national development and maintain professionalism.
The Minister of Education, dr. Maruf Olaunji Alausa, echoed the feeling, asking the owners of all universities recently approved to ensure that quality education was delivered.
“Protect the integrity of your partnerships and give the Nigerians the education they deserve,” he recommended.
Speaking with journalists after receiving the license, Balami praised President Tinubu for having been able to conclude the prolonged delay.
“This could only happen under a man who places an education prize. Success can only be delayed, not denied,” he said
Balami, who also manages 7star Global Hangar, one of the largest maintenance companies of Nigeria aircraft, underlined the meaning of the university launch.
“We assure the Nigerians who with the take -off of our university, the first plane made in Nigeria will take off soon.”
Deputy Chancellor of the University’s acting, Professor Paul Jemitola, added: “With my global military aviation background, I think they are about to happen great things in the Nigeria aviation sector”.
In the meantime, international interest is already building. Alvin Atsegwasi, representing 88 recruitment agents of foreign students, confirmed the investigations of European and American parents.
“A jet is about to take off, in the name of the University of Isaac Balami,” he said.
