Nigerian badminton player Anuoluwapo Opeyori maintained a positive outlook on his performance at the Paris Olympics, despite failing to advance to the second round of the men’s singles event.
Opeyori was eliminated after a 2-0 (21-17, 21-17) loss to world number six Li Shi Feng in his second group match on Wednesday.
Earlier in the competition, he also lost his opening group match to 181st-ranked Tobias Kuenzi of Switzerland by a score of 2-0.
“It was a fantastic start, I gave it my all,” Opeyori described his performance.
“Yes, it may not have been the result we wanted, but it was not a bad match and it was good for African badminton.”
“I will continue to work hard to become one of the best in the world,” he concluded.
