Senator Adams Aliyu Oshiomhole expressed deep pain for the disappearance of the former president Muhammadu Buhari, who died on Sunday afternoon in a London clinic in a short illness.

In a declaration issued shortly after the announcement of the death of the former president, Oshiomhole described the moment as dark and painful for Nigeria.

He noticed that the nation has lost not only a former leader, but a man of unusual integrity, discipline and moral courage.

“Today is a very sad day for Nigeria,” said the former Governor of the Edo State who worked as national president of the APC in power.

“President Buhari was a man who preached the truth, fought for the truth and stopped in truth. Even when he had to compromise because of circumstances and needs, it was not for his personal earnings but to raise the agitations of his least resistant and his lesser wounds. Leadership and simplicity of principle.”

Senator Oshiomhole recalled the permanent devotion of President Buhari to the public service, from his time as a military sovereign to his two -terms mandate as a democratically elected president.

According to him, Buhari has lived a life defined by patriotism, frugality and an unrivaled commitment for the fight against corruption.

“President Buhari lived a life satisfied with pity and humility. Her spotless footprints are thrown into gold on the historical landscape of Nigeria,” said Oshiomhole.

“His critics also recognize his personal discipline and dedication to the national service. It will not be forgotten for the generations to come.”

While noting that the death of Buhari’s emptiness leaves in the political history of the nation, Oshiomhole invited the Nigerians to reflect on the legacy of the deceased statesman and draw inspiration from his courage, honesty and moral beliefs.

On behalf of his family and the people of the Senatorial District of the North Edo, Oshiomhole prayed that Almnipotent Allah forgives the deficiencies of the former president and granted him the eternal rest to Aljannah Firdus.
