Galatasaray striker Victor Osimhen is happy with the support from fans during the Istanbul derby against Fenerbahce.
The Nigerian praised the visiting fans for their passionate support, guiding the team to a resounding 3-1 victory over their bitter rivals.
Osimhen played a key role in the heated clash at the Ulker Stadyumu Fenerbahce Sukru Saracoglu Spor Kompleksi, assisting Dries Mertens’ crucial second goal in the first half.
After the match, the Nigerian striker acknowledged the influence of the fans on the team’s performance in such an important match.
“Yesterday’s victory would not have been possible without the incredible support of Galatasaray fans from all over the world. Their cheers gave us the strength to fight,” Osimhen told Fanatik.
“You are not just fans in the stands, you are an important part of this team. Thank you for believing in us. We walk together.”
The victory took Galatasaray to the top of the Turkish Super Lig, putting them two points ahead of arch-rivals Fenerbahce.
Osimhen is still looking for his first goal in a Galatasaray shirt but will hope to find the net in their next Europa League match against PAOK on Wednesday.
