The report we made about Victor Osimhen having a serious fight with his teammate Francis Uzoho at the team camp before the Africa Cup of Nations occurred at the team hotel and not at the training ground as reported Soccer net.
The poor attempt to verify our story did not address the real issue behind the heated exchange between the two, which occurred 48 hours before the friendly match against Guinea. Osimhen did not participate in the game.
We exclusively learned that the problem started when Osimhen intervened in a conversation between Uzoho, Ahmed Musa and José Peseiro calling the Omonia Nicosia goalkeeper a liar.
“It was an argument at the team hotel and not at the training ground. Peseiro was chatting with Musa and Uzoho after dinner when Osimhen intervened and said that what Uzoho said is not true. The goalkeeper asked him to stay away from the topic because it does not concern him and that generated a heated exchange,” an assistant of Peseiro said exclusively. OwnGoalNigeria.com.
“When I saw the report that this happened at training camp, I laughed because that’s not true. I had never seen Osimhen so hurt before and it took all the backroom staff and his teammates to call him to order. He was saying some things in pidgin that seemed threatening, but we were able to calm Uzoho down, otherwise it would have resulted in something really bad,” he concluded.
Meanwhile, on the fight between Osimhen and Balogun in 2019, John Ogu who told the story said it happened at the training ground as we reported when Osimhen provoked Balogun with a savage retaliatory tackle.
Ogu said it left everyone stunned when a young player on the team went up against an established veteran player. However, he said that the problem was solved by then coach Gernot Rohr.
