The Governor of the State of Osun, Senator Ademola Adeleke, has announced relaxation of the curfew in the Ilobu, Ifon, and Erin-Osun community prone to conflict.
New instructions reduce the 17 -hour restriction which was previously forced to be 12 hours curfew, now effective starting at 19:00 to 7:00 in the morning every day.
This adjustment follows a series of cruel communal clashes in affected cities that claimed several lives and property leaving. Riots, driven by a long time ago, have encouraged the state government to uphold strict security steps in recent weeks.
According to a statement issued by the Commissioner for information and public enlightenment, Kolapo Alimi, and available for the press in Osogbo on Tuesday, the decision to reduce curfew was informed by the signs of calm and cooperation that was restored among the community.
The statement praised consistent security supervision and local leadership efforts for the de-escalation of tension.
The Governor’s Decree also takes into account the needs of students who prepare a critical academic examination, including the West African senior school certificate examination (Wassce), the National Examination Board (NECO), and the Joint Matriculation Revenue and Matriculation (Jamb) test.

Governor Adeleke stressed that academic progress should not be slipped by security challenges, noting that the revised curfew schedule will allow young people to pursue their educational goals without obstacles.
“Revised curfew is based on positive security renewal which shows daily progress in de-escalation,” Alimi said, quoting the Governor. “Immediately effectively, the curfew will now run from 7 pm to 7 am until further notification.”
Governor Adeleke reiterated the dedication of his government to restore harmony in the region, promising to spend all the legitimate and ethical ways to end the crisis. He praised the rulers and traditional residents of three cities for their efforts to rebuild trust and maintain peace, urged them to deepen their commitment to reconciliation.
He further directed the joint security forces, consisting of the Nigerian Army, Police and Civil Defense Corps and Corps (NSCDC) Nigeria, to maintain the presence of all the time in the area. This, he said, would prevent the rise of violence and convince the population of sustainable protection.
“There are no individuals, groups, or communities found incitement or extending this crisis will not be punished,” the Governor warned. “Our law will be applied strongly for the interests of collective safety and justice.”
In an effort to find a long -term resolution, Adeleke also instructed the Crisis Resolution Committee which consisted of 100 people, which was previously determined in response to communal riots, to intensify intervention efforts. The Committee, consisting of community leaders, security operations, and civil society actors, has been assigned to identify the roots of conflict causes and recommend a sustainable peace strategy.
Governor Adeleke asked all native Ilobu, Ifon, and Erin-Osun, both within Nigeria and abroad, to support peace initiatives. He reiterated that original developments can only develop in the climate of stability and unity.
“Only in the atmosphere of peace and unity is that development can be rooted in these communities and throughout Osun states,” he concluded.
