Osun PDP defended Gov Adeleke’s visit to Tinubu, urged APC to embrace maturity

The Osun State Chapter from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has greatly reprimanded all the progressive Congress (APC) for what is described as a “shameful” and “stupid” reaction to the visit of the new Ademola Governor Adeleke to the President of Bola Ahmed Tinubu in Lagos.

In a statement issued Thursday at Osogbo by Chairman Osun PDP, Hon. Sunday Bisi, the party condemned the series of criticisms from APC members after the governor’s meeting with the President, describing the attack as a failure to understand the basis of government and democratic involvement.

“Spicy explosions from APC supporters since President Tinubu welcomed Governor Adeleke at his residence in Lagos showing total neglect of politeness and ignorance that worried about democratic principles,” Bisi said. “Such behavior is under the Yoruba tradition which is proud of mutual respect and politeness.”

The PDP reaction came a few days after Governor Adeleke, together with his sister Deji Adeleke and popular music artist David Adeleke (Davido), visited the president in what sources described as strategic dialogue that focused on the priority of Osun State development.

While Osun APC claimed that Adeleke’s visit was politically motivated and openly to keep the party away from any alliance with the Governor, Bisi stated that the visit was part of the responsible governance. He noted that Adeleke, as an elected leader of the Osun state, was entitled to interact with the state president about the issue of public interest.

“Governor Adeleke will continue to explore every democratic path, including dialogue with President Tinubu if necessary, to ensure that Osun people benefit from support and federal cooperation,” Bisi said.

He also accused APC of having a pattern of political plays and hostility of federal figures who had recognized Adeleke’s government. He quoted an example of the past when a prominent high -ranking official, including Senator First Lady Oluremi Tinubu, a senior parliament member Alhassan Ado Doguwa, and Chief of Staff for President FEMI GBAJABAMILILA, verbally attacked by APC loyalists in OSUN only for recognizing the Governor’s efforts.

“These leaders face insults that are not provoked from the elements of APC Osun only to do what is right, recognizing development governance. This behavior not only does not respect the Governor’s office but also damages the interests of Osun residents,” Bisi said.

Drawing from political history, Bisi refers to the moment of Bipartisanship from the past: “Former Governor Bisi Akande, despite political differences, hosting President Olusegun Obasanjo for three days before the 2003 general election. Together, they assign projects and discuss development plans. That is what kind of leadership and femininity like that.”

He added that APC leaders must now look for wisdom from respected figures such as Baba Bisi Akande rather than pampering themselves in “small political tantrums.”

Bisi concluded by praising Governor Adeleke for his sustainable focus on peace, development, and dialogue, and encouraging opposition to leave personal attacks for constructive political involvement serving the Osun people.

Meanwhile, Osun APC, through the former Chairman of the State Council of the Assembly, Hon. Timothy Owoeye, insisted that the visit was suspected in politically. He stressed that the party would not “sell” the governor’s ticket to Governor Adeleke or his family, which increasingly triggered political tension before the future election.
