Our awards not for highest bidders – OurNigeria newsmagazine  – Blueprint Newspapers Limited

OurNigeria Newsmagazine says its annual awards are neither for sale nor for the highest bidders but a platform to recognise excellence, meritorious and outstanding contributions to the unity and development of Nigeria and humanity in general.

Chairman of the Planning Committee (CPC) of the 2023 awards, Dr AK Peters, stated this Tuesday in Abuja at a press conference heralding the 2023 edition of the awards, saying  the awardees will be seen, recognised, celebrated and rewarded for raising the bar in leadership and the quest for a better Nigeria.

The CPC chairman stated that the awards were conferred on unsung heroes who have been highly inspirational and whose leadership had evoked admiration, emulation and recognition.

“Let me sound it very clearly that OurNigeria News Awards are not for sale. Our awards are not for the highest bidders.

“Our awards are only for those who have scaled through clear cut parameters, criteria, and scrutiny and competency appraisal of our eagle-eyed, conservative, old schooled crack team of assessors.”

According to him, this year’s edition tagged, “Providing a podium for the unsung heroes” was designed to honour extraordinary Nigerians who have done extraordinary things in extraordinary circumstances without being noticed.”

The event which is slated to hold on November 11 this year, Dr Peters said will be under the chairmanship of former Chief of Army Staff and former Nigerian Envoy to the Republic of Benin, Lt-Gen (Amb) Tukur Buratai (rtd), and the governor of Cross River state, Senator Bassey Otu as the special guest of honour, while the Ooni of Ife, His Royal Majesty, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi Ojaja lll will be the Royal Father of the day.
