Over 100 Duplexes, Plots Ready For Subscribers At PMB Estate, Says Ogun Housing Commissioner

The Ogun State Government has announced that over 100 units of detached and semi-detached duplexes are ready for subscription by citizens at the President Muhammadu Buhari (PMB) Estate in Abeokuta.

It also states that there are plots of land available for sale to private individuals willing and ready to build their dream home on the estate.

Commissioner for Housing, Jagunmolu Akande Omoniyi, made the statement on Friday during a field visit to over 100 real estate agents and property developers in the PMB area along Kobape Road, Abeokuta.

Further speaking about what subscribers can gain from the estate, Hon. Omoniyi said that in addition to being built on virgin land with magnificent scenery, the estate will feature a shopping mall, perimeter fence and gatehouse, children’s playground, recreation center and other facilities comparable to those of large estates around the world.

“This estate will be of the highest quality. It will have facilities comparable to first-class estates around the world. It will have adequate security, a shopping mall, a recreation center, a children’s playground and other facilities that will make living in this estate a pleasant experience.

“As you can see, the buildings are constructed with the best materials available across the country. The buildings are modern in design with spacious spaces. We are building this estate for those who want to live in a tranquil environment, away from the hustle and bustle of the cities and for Nigerians in the diaspora who want to enjoy the same environment they are used to abroad,” he said.

The estate, the commissioner added, is strategically located close to OgunTechHub, State Judiciary Complex, and just five minutes drive from the governor’s office, and 50 minutes from Lagos State. He assured that subscribers, upon full payment, will receive all their title documents.

Jagunmolu Omoniyi said the success achieved so far, especially with the Ibara redevelopment project, has made it clear that the government needs to also develop the PMB neighborhood to provide more homes for the people.

He said the purpose of the tour was to raise awareness in the real estate market by bringing together more than 100 real estate agents and brokers on the structures being put in place to transform a once-abandoned project into one of the country’s finest residential developments.

He stressed that the PMB Estate, initiated by the previous administration, was conceived as a site and amenities project with over 500 hectares of land, adding that the state government is currently developing the first cluster of over 50 hectares.

The commissioner further revealed that the more than 100 buildings, consisting of semi-detached and detached houses, were built to demonstrate what the state government is capable of.

Omoniyi lamented that despite its huge potential, PMB was unkempt, with much unfinished and vandalised infrastructure, but has now been transformed into a town of great value for the people of the state and Nigerians in the diaspora who wish to live and work in the state.

The Commissioner stressed that the Prince Dapo Abiodun-led administration has an inclusive policy on housing provision, taking into account all sections of the state’s population.

According to him, the current administration has, in the last four years, provided affordable housing to all categories of people, from low-income to middle-income and high-income. He added that the government’s desire is to ensure that all citizens of the state have a roof over their heads.

“This is the only state that, in the first four years of its establishment, has built over 4,000 affordable houses in all three senatorial districts of the state. Ogun State is the only state that has provided truly affordable houses that are not out of reach of the people.

“Our low-income houses cost between N10 million and N15 million, the middle-income houses about N70 million, while the high-income houses about N175 million. With this, we have engaged over 50,000 artisans through direct labour and transformed several unknown villages into smart cities.

Also speaking, the Senior Special Assistant (SSA) to the governor, Ogun State Property and Investment Corporation (OPIC), Prince Farooq Adenugba, said Cluster 1 of the estate, currently under development, is equipped with facilities such as a gatehouse, service building, children’s park, clubhouse, street lights and standard drainage system, describing it as “an estate of valleys and hills”.

Prince Adenugba stressed that the buildings are of high quality, comparable to the best in the world.

He stated that the semi-detached and detached houses are equipped with accommodation for children, as well as the semi-detached houses are located on a plot of 900 square meters and the semi-detached houses on a plot of 500 square meters.

While assuring subscribers of value for money, Adenugba added that the selection of housing units are strategically located, while each cluster will be fenced to ensure the necessary security for the occupants.

A real estate professional and developer, Mr. Babatunde Denton, while answering questions from journalists after visiting the estate, applauded the state government for placing the project at a strategic location to showcase the state, adding that with the standard of infrastructure and facilities available, PMB Estate is set to become a world-class estate in the future.

The Secretary General of the Real Estate Developers’ Association of Nigeria, Ogun State chapter, Mr. Ojikutu Olusola, has commended the state government for ensuring the use of quality materials in the construction of the buildings, stressing that with government’s involvement in the projects, buyers will have greater peace of mind after purchasing the properties.
