The United States mission in Nigeria has issued a new warning to Nigerian travelers, emphasizing that beyond or abusing US visas can result in long -term travel restrictions.
The advisor was distributed to the official X mission grip on Tuesday, where he underlined the importance of obeying the visa condition strictly.
“It is important to use your US visa according to its requirements. Abuse it, for example, with oversaying, can affect your ability to travel to the US in the future,” the mission said.

The attention of the embassy came with an increase in supervision background to US visa compliance and increased concerns about oversays by foreign nationals.
Data from the US State Department shows that more than 700,000 visa holders exaggerate the duration permitted in 2023, with Nigeria registered among countries with high number of violations.
Under the 1996 Immigration Immigration Reformation, the Law on Immigrant Responsibility, those who exceeded official penalties continue to face rigid sentences: a three-year entry prohibition for oversays for 180 to 365 days, and a ten-year prohibition for those who remain in the US for more than one year.
