The deputy governor of the State of Oyo, the lawyer Bayo Lawal and the president of the weekend of the border committee said that the state government has started the moves to resolve a long -standing border dispute that involves 12 areas of the local government of the State.
The lawyer Lawal declared him in a peace meeting of the representatives of the twelve local governments, convened by the state government, held at the Center for Mediation, the Ministry of Justice, Secretariat, Ibadan.
The deputy governor has commissioned the interested parties in the areas of the local government interested in desisting from causing problems in their respective communities, based on the sentence provided regarding their various disputes.
The lawyer Lawal claimed that the controversy on the interstatal border and the dispute between border must be resolved amicably since every responsible government would always want to prevent violence, massacre and bloodshed.
He stressed that the establishment of the border committee is constitutional and is legally binding.
He said the disputes between Ibadan South West and Oluyole Local Government areas, Akinyele and Afijio Local Government areas have been updated respectively until the next meeting of the borders that will be communicated to all interested parties.
The lawyer Lawal stressed that the committee adopted judgments of the High Court and appeal court for the dispute on the borders between Kajola and Iwajowa Local Government areas while the areas of the local government of Oyo East and Afijio have been informed that they should expect a verdict regarding their cases.
The deputy governor claimed that the Committee still needs more documents and legal evidence from the two parties regarding the dispute between Saki West and the areas of the local government of Atisbo and that the president of the local government of Surulere was asked to provide further updates and follow-up to the conflict of border of the intra-room government.
He therefore appealed to the local governments of Ibarapa Central and Ibarapa East, to allow the peace to reign, urging the general surveyor of the state to intensify the question by defining the administrative border (border between local governments) apart from the boundaries of the city/village.
The state commissioner for the local government and the things from Capo, Hon. Ademola Ojo in his observations, implored the parties interested in accepting mediation sentences and tactics employed by the Committee for their cases.
Hon. Ojo stressed that the committee based its judgment on the facts and documents provided by the parties.
In addition, the attorney general and the commissioner for justice, the lawyer Biodun Aikomo, while he spoke, ensured to the local governments concerned that the committee will conduct in -depth investigations to establish a position aimed at providing a fair and right resolution.
The local governments affected in the disputed areas are the areas of the local government Ibadan and Oluyole; Areas of the local government Oyo East and Afijio; The areas of the local government of Kajola and Iwajowa; Akinyele and Afijio Local Government areas; Areas of the local government of Saki West and Atisbo; Ibarapa Central and Ibarapa East Local Government areas; and the communities of Agbaa and Oko in the areas of the local government of Surulere.
