A 28 -year -old electrician was electrocuted on Wednesday on a high voltage cable in Eruwa, in the area of the local local government of Ibarapa in the state of Oyo.
It was said that the electrician had died instantly in high voltage in the Odo Babaode area of the city while trying to correct an electric failure on high voltage
It was learned that the aforementioned electrician was trying to presumably correct the failure on the high voltage active lines without being closed by the power supply.
According to the general manager of the Oyo State Fire Brigade, Rev Akinyemi Akinyinka, a rescue call was received by the agency on Wednesday afternoon for the accident.
Rev Akinyinka stressed that the aforementioned electrician has already been accepted and all the necessary precautionary measures have been observed in order to safeguard the citizens nearby
“The call in difficulty was reported at 15: 29 hours of Wednesday 23 April 2025. The fire prevention staff led by PFS1 Pietuola Babaunde quickly followed the caller and upon arrival in the place,” he said.
Rev Akinyinka added: “We met the victim already electrocuted and all the precautionary measures needed were observed in order to safeguard the citizens nearby”.
“The man was recovered and delivered to a police team of the Eruwa Police Station. The accident occurred when the victim (electrician) was trying to correct an electric failure on active power lines without closing the power supply.”
