Pakistan deported around 60,000 Afghan refugees

The International Organization for Migration (IOM) said on Tuesday that Pakistan had deported around 60,000 Afghan refugees through the two border points in the last 13 days.

Iom revealed this in a statement in Geneva, Switzerland.

“Between April 1 and 13, Iom recorded a sharp increase in forced return, with nearly 60,000 people crossing back to Afghanistan through Tokham and rotating the border point of Boldak,” the statement said.

The agency added that more than 2.43 million Afghan migrants who did not document had returned to their homeland, Afghanistan, from Pakistani and Iranian neighbors since September 2023.

He added that most of them were forcibly repatriated.

The Pakistani government will deport three million Afghan people to their home country in 2025.

Reportedly, around 7 million Afghan refugees, most of whom are non -documents, are currently living abroad, with most of living in Afghan -Pakistan and Iranian neighbors.
