Pandef urged Tinubu, Akpabio to restore democracy in a crisis river

Pan Niger Delta Forum (Pandef), an association-political organization representing the southern-south region, has issued a passionate request to the President of the Tinubu Bola and the President of the Senate Godswill Akpabio to take quick action to restore the democratic order in the Rivers state, where the prolonged political crisis has left government in defeat.

In a statement issued Thursday to commemorate Democratic Day, National Chairperson Pandef, Ambassador Godnows Igali, urged federal leadership to treat an increase in the river as a national emergency that is contrary to the essence of a democratic heritage on June 12.

Therefore Pandef called for related authorities, especially, the President of Tinubu Bola, as the father of the nation, and the national assembly, led by our son, Senator Godswill Akpabio to act without delay to restore democratic governance in the state of Rivers. The prolonged political crisis in the state has created an unpacious environment.

Entitled ‘Considering June 12 and our collective call to act in the state of Rivers’, the statement recorded a contradiction between the ideals of June 12 and the reality on the field in Rivers.

“Pandef notes that the most troubling is a striking contradiction between the noble ideals and the eternal heritage June 12, as symbolized by the sacrifice of the heroes of the past and those who are still alive and the reality of what can only be described as authoritarianism crept in the river state,” said Igali.

The Rivers’s crisis, which has been festering since March, has been equated with de facto emergencies, according to Pandef. This group warns that sustainable erosion of democratic institutions in one of the most strategic states in Delta Niger can have great national consequences.

“While the nation rights unites with the president to celebrate democracy day, a deeply paradoxical and trouble situation continuous to unfold in the strategicly important state of rivers. The people of rivers state and the wider niger delta are bein subjected to the erosion of democratic institutions and principles of rivers. Good Governance. This portends grave implications for our collective democratic achievements as a country, “Igali Said.

Appeal for peace and reconciliation, Igali urged all political stakeholders in the state of Rivers to reduce tension.

“In addition, we ask all the main political actors and their supporters in the state of Rivers to immediately ‘put their arms’ and embrace peaceful paths. As people who believe together, let us be guided by orders in the preacher 3: 8: ‘there is time to hate and time to love, time for war and time for peace.’ Time for love and peace has arrived, to respect the memories of the heroes and martyrs on June 12. “

Igali praised the President for commemorating the inheritance of June 12 and recognized the new reconciliation movement.

Pandef conveyed our congratulations to all Nigerians when we marked twenty -six years from unbroken democratic journey. We especially salute the President of Bola Tinubu, who now has the privilege to lead the nation in commemorating the day of democracy-one day respected by Saro, King’s investigation. Wiwa and Ogoni Sembilan. “

This group also shows that while some progress has been made since 1999, the fundamental challenges have continued to disrupt Nigerian democracy.

“Succesive administrations at all levels, since the beginning of the fourth Republic, including those in places at present, have made strides toward delivering the basic socio-economic dividends of democracy. Challenges that directly confront ordinary nigerians, especially in the critical area of access to food, security, primary healthcare, basic education and unmitigated environmental degradation of the niger delta.

Reaffirming his role as a guardian of the values of democracy in the region, Pandef promised unwavering support for any valid effort aimed at restoring stability in the state of Rivers.
