Paris 2024: Ajibade confident of decisive clash against Japan

Super Falcons captain Rasheedat Ajibade expressed confidence in her team’s ability to defeat former world champions Japan in their final Group C match at the Olympics.

The all-important match will be played this Wednesday at the Stade de la Beaujoire in Nantes.

Nigeria’s Super Falcons are currently bottom of Group C, having lost their opening two matches to Brazil and Spain.

To have any chance of advancing to the quarter-finals, Nigeria must record a win against the Asian champions, either by achieving a favourable goal difference to qualify in second or third place.

“Victory over Japan is possible. We will work hard to achieve it. The Super Falcons have done it before and we can do it again,” Ajibade told thenff.com.

The Super Falcons previously defeated Japan 1-0 in their last Olympic meeting in Piraeus, Greece, in 2004.

Ajibade remains optimistic and believes his team can repeat that success.
