Orbih spoke about the importance of early preparation and high-quality facilities provided to athletes during their initial training phase.
The BFN initiated training camps for athletes before the Ministry of Sports took over, recognizing the critical need for thorough preparation.
βWe, as a federation, started campaigning for them before the ministry took over because we knew the importance of preparation,β Orbih said.
Speaking about the facilities used, Orbih said: βWe had a partnership with Koei club, which allowed the national team to train there, so we managed to get them to train at Koei club for the last few weeks, which has one of the best badminton facilities in the country at the moment.β
The team has now moved to Germany for a training tour abroad, with plans to continue training in Paris.
βThey left for the campaign abroad and then, from Germany, they moved to Paris. The team has been camping in Lagos for the past few weeks. As a federation, we actually started campaigning for them before the ministry took over, because we knew how important preparation was.β
Orbih concluded: “It’s one thing to talk about wanting to win a medal, but it’s another thing to see what you do to prepare to win that medal. So we saw that need and we did it.”
βSo we took them to train at the Koei club, which has one of the best badminton facilities in the country right now.β
