Pastor Nigeria departed from South Africa in the midst of the legal commotion, the command of deportation

Televangelist Nigeria Timothy Omotoso, who has just been freed from several accusations of rape and human trafficking, has left South Africa under the controversy clouds, even when the prosecutor moved to appeal to the decision to free him.

Omotoso, 66, who led the International Church of Jesus Dominion with headquarters in Durban and branches in Nigeria and Israel, was seen at Johannesburg or Tambo International Airport on Sunday. Wearing a gray -gray hoodie and sunglasses, he was seen talking to an immigration official, according to the recording aired by the Sabc state announcer and the editorial room of Africa.

The time of his departure was not confirmed, but the South African Ministry of Transportation clarified that Omotoso did not require special permission to leave the country.

His departure followed the storm of public anger over his release last month over 32 serious accusations, including rape, sexual exploitation, and human trafficking. Omotoso has spent eight years in custody waiting for the trial – a case that has captivated the South African media and triggered a national debate.

Apart from the court’s decision that benefits him, the National Attorney’s Authority (NPA) has announced his intention to challenge the results. “NPA argues that there are prospects that make sense from an appeal that was successfully separated from the complexity of the legal process,” the agent said earlier this week.

Prosecutors have also confirmed that they launched an internal investigation into a team that handled a high profile case, following strong criticism from the trial judge, who blamed the prosecution’s movement for the failure to get punishment.

In the new twist, Omotoso was detained again on May 10 with accusations related to immigration. The authorities indicate that he experienced deportation after the conclusion of the criminal trial. However, the judge’s court then decided that he could not be detained for more than 48 hours without formal accusations and ordered his release.

When Omotoso returned to Nigeria, legal and public supervision surrounding his case arose far from completion, with the prosecutor to advance with the legal appeal plan and had just been concerned about the judicial administration in cases involving sexual violence.
