Pay attention to the scammers, residential seal to 753 units not yet on sale – FG

The Ministry of Housing and Urban Development has declared that it has not started the sale of the housing property of 753 units recovered recently linked to the former governor of the Nigeria Central Bank (CBN), Godwin Emefiele.

In a statement, on Saturday, signed by the director of the press and public relations, Badamasi Haiba, the ministry said he had only taken the ownership of the commission for economic and financial crimes (EFCC), in line with the directives of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

He said that the notice was the result of scammers who urge money from the nigerians unaware under the pretext of selling slots in the estate, complaining about the scammers ask for N500,000 for false forms of “expression of interest” on behalf of the Ministry.

The declaration stated: “The Ministry of Housing and Urban Development wishes to notify the general public that has not yet started any trial for the sale of 753 – housing units linked to the former Governor of the CBN, Godwin Emefiele, of which he took the custody of the FCC, a few days ago.

“This clarification became necessary as the relationships that reach the ministry indicated that the scammers were already on the move to frowned the Nigerians, claiming to have slots from the Ministry of Accommodation to sell the houses, asking for N500,000 for the purchase of an expression of non -existing interest.

“To avoid doubt, the Ministry has just detected the property from the EFCC as indicated by Mr President, the houses will be completed by the Ministry and all the necessary infrastructures will be provided before offering the public for sale and for special needs of the government.

“The Minister of the Hon, Arc. Ahmed Musa Dongowa had announced that the Ministry would have set up a technical committee to carry out a physical evaluation of the structure, conducting the integrity tests of the buildings and ascertaining the needs of the infrastructures that will make the cost of real estate and finally elaborates the disposal strategy.

“The public is informed by the present that the Ministry will provide a clear and adequate announcement, as well as a strategy outlined for the sales of the houses, as indicated by the president of excellence Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR.

“Consequently, the general public is therefore felt not to fall victim to scammers and it is recommended to contact the Ministry’s officials directly through the public construction and residential development departments and the press and public relations for clarifications before committing any resource regarding the purchase of houses.

“The Ministry is committed to ensuring that the process is guided by transparency, public liability and inclusion, while offering the agenda of renewed hope in the housing construction sector.

“We urge all the Nigerians to remain vigilant and rely only on the official communications of the Ministry.”
