PDP announces the date, home for the national convention

The Democratic Party of the Peoples (PDP) has announced a new date and location for its next elective national convention, now scheduled for November 2025

This update was made public on Thursday by the secretary of the National Advertising of the PDP, weak Ologunagba, during the 101st meeting of the National Party Executive Committee (NEC).

According to Ologunagba, the movement of the date and position was aimed at guaranteeing a wider participation and better organization in view of what should be a critical political gathering for the party. The agreement will be used to elect new members in the National Working Committee (NWC).

Speaking at the NEC meeting, the national president of the party acting, Urar Iliya Damagum, revealed that several members who had previously left the party to join a political coalition began to return. He described the coalition as a failed political experiment.

Damagum observed that many of those who briefly aligned with the coalition have openly recognized that they have never really left the PDP but have only explored alternative political meetings.

Reaffirming the strength of the PDP, Damagum has declared that only the party has the structure, the basic network and the inheritance necessary to guide Nigeria towards progress. He also expressed the trust that the PDP remains the only alternative to the all progressive (APC) congress and has the ability to recover power in the next general elections.

The November convention should act as shift for the PDP as it reorganizes before the general elections of 2027.
