The Democratic People’s Party (PDP) held a Southwest Congress on Wednesday and returned Kamorudeen Ajisafe as Chair of the Party Zone.
The election took place during the Zonal Party Congress held at Theophilus Ogunwusi Hall, UCH, Ibadan.
Also elected at the congress was Mr. Muyiwa Obagunwa as Secretary of Zonal, Mr. Adeyemo Adetunji as Treasurer of Zonal and Mr. Yahaya Adeleke as Zonal’s Finance Secretary.
Another selected zonal executive member is – Benson Adegbenro – Organizing Secretary, Ny. Bosede Adedibu – Zonal female leader and Mr. Shefiu Adesina – Auditor.
In his acceptance speech, Ajisafe promised to advance the party while asking for support from party leaders.
He assured all party members that PDP would win more countries in the zone under his leadership.

In his speech, the Governor of the State of Oyo, Seyi Makinde, demanded that party members in the zone to remain united.
He stressed that the unity among members will increase party progress.
Makinde said the success of the election of Zonal would be a reference point for the upcoming National Congress.
In the message of his good intentions, the Governor of the State Osun, Adeleke Ademola, said the success of the election had confirmed that the Southwest PDP remained one entity and urged other PDP zones to imitate the region.
A former Governor of the State Akwa Ibom, Emmanuel Udom, oversees the election behavior, while representatives of the Independent National Election Commission (Inec) observe the exercise.
