PDP rejects Cross River Congress

The Democratic National Work Committee (PDP) (NWC) of the people of Democrats has rejected the new party congress that was held in the Cross River state.

The Secretary of the National Publicity of the Party, Debo Oologunagba, announced his position at a press conference on Tuesday in Abuja.

He said the party’s leadership did not know the existence of this new Congress in the state because it had previously postponed the congress planned to be early.

The spokesman said: “For emphasis, there is no congress at Cross River by PDP because the party’s leadership has previously announced the postponement of the congress in the state of cross river, plateau, and kebbi.”

He stated that NWC recognized the party congress held in Lagos, Oyo, Ondo, Edo, Adamawa, Borno, Niger, and Kogi, while Ekiti appeared on Monday.

He noted that in line with the provision of the PDP constitution, NWC will sit to review the results of the congress

Oologunagba added: “In the case of cross river and the state of the highlands, where the executive term of office has expired, NWC will form a guard committee who will carry out party affairs for some time.

“At present, for Cross River, the South-South Zonal guard committee will oversee the chapter affairs as previously directed by NWC.”

He described the recognized congress in Cross River as a carnival and pre-catal hallucination, said that PDP was a constitutional party and was guided by law.

“There is a process that you go through to have a congress, NWC will form an election panel.

“We do not form that. So that’s why I say that it is a hallucination. This is excitement, carnival.

“So what happens if that does happen, which I am not aware of, which is not realized by the parties, maybe pre-narars for Christmas,” he said.
