PDP Relocates Meeting Bot amid Security Clampdown at the National Secretariat

The Democratic People’s Party (PDP) has officially announced the relocation of the Supervisory Board (BOT) meeting, which was originally scheduled to be held on Monday morning at the National Secretariat of the Party, Wadata Plaza, Abuja.

In a statement issued on Monday by party management and shared on a verified Facebook page, PDP confirmed that the BOT meeting will now take place at the Yar’adua center in the Abuja business center district. The change was published around noon, a few hours after the meeting time of 10:00 in the morning.

Announcement, entitled “Special Announcement! Changes to Place for the Meeting of the Central Council of PDP (BOT),” read:

“The meeting of the Democratic People’s Supervisory Board (BOT), which was previously scheduled to be detained at 10:00 in the morning at the National Secretariat of the Party in Abuja, was transferred to the Yaradua Center, Central Business District, Abuja.”

BOT members, some of which were reported on their way to the original location, were urged to proceed directly to a new place.

The statement was signed only as “management,” not giving reasons for these changes. However, the construction followed the tense morning at the PDP National Secretariat, where security operators sealed the place and were reportedly rejected to the party officials and BOT members.

According to some media outlets, the presence of security agents is associated with “orders from above,” even though there is no official explanation given by the authorities when submitting this report.

The last minute disruption added to increasing tension in the party, which in recent weeks had wrestled with internal disputes and parallel meetings over his leadership structure.
